Well, good old Wimbers is well and truly gripping the nation again (thanks to Andy Murray) – and once again there are some pretty bizarre fashions on show. Not least, hot favourite Roger Federer’s jacket he wears pre-match…………….
The star said: “It’s more contemporary while still looking clean and sophisticated.”
Nike would like Federer to add it is “a modern interpretation of a classic military silhouette from 1965″ but they had to say it themselves.

Roger is not alone
Sadly, Roger is not the only sports star to have a fashion disaster. There are countless examples of on and off court/pitch style faux pas. What is it with sports stars and lack of style? – there seems to be a direct correlation between level of sporting talent and good fashion sense. Is it because these people put so much into their sports that they can’t think straight about what they’re wearing? or are they just clueless as to what looks good?
Off the top of my head, i can think of numerous examples of this phenomenon – Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Anna Kournikova, Ian Poulter, Tim Henman, The Williams sisters, Lewis Hamilton, Ashley Cole – i could name hundreds more………
Bucking the trend
There are however, a few sporting stars who have bucked this trend and have became style icons in their own right, namely Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Andre Aggassi and Bjorn Bjorg (please let us know if you can name any more…….) – but they are few and far between.
What are your thoughts on this? – am i being unfair to these masters of the sporting domain?
